If only I lived nearer, I love any fruit pie with some fresh cream or even Ice cream would be ok, a nice cup of coffee and all is well with the world.

Frosty, if you want more apples, just get in your row boat and come across the  lake. I'll give you as many bushels as you want ... better come with a big boat

I've been thinking about pumpkin pie , I love them but I'll have to eat it all myself ,

nobody else likes them . When I go shopping I see all the pumpkins outside

the store and I want one , sooo much work peeling and cleaning them

to make my pie , and I only want fresh pumpkin in my pie .

  Maybe ,,, I'll see how lazy i am ...

Re:Apple pie

it's hard to buy a pie pumpkin, they are mostly  carving pumpkins out there and they DON'T make good pies. A guy down the road used to have pie pumpkins and a lot of different kinds of squash real cheap. But he must not of had a garden this year, he has nothing out

Bug if you bake the pumpkin first (after removing the seeds) and just scoop it out of the shell it makes it easier and the pumpkin is drier then if you cook it on top the stove ... but it is still a lot of work ... I open a can. My Mama always made pumpkin pie from hubberd squash, I guess it was really squash pie ... even though pumpkin IS a squash

Foxy, I never realized it before but I guess pumpkin is a North American thing. When my niece first moved to New Zealand she was horified to find out they didn't have pumpkin and then Waymon said he can't get it down there either

Am I the only one that puts a little molasses in their pumpkin pie?

Benton County sorghum – writinghersense

writinghersense.com/tag/benton-county-sorghum

When I was a child we waited in anticipation every fall for sorghum molasses to come on the market. Mother and Daddy were convinced the only appropriate sorghum molasses came from Benton County, Tennessee.. Even then, one had to read the label closely to make sure corn syrup had not been added.

When I was a kid,my father got a old mule driven molasses mill for some money a farmer owed him for his seed and fertilizer bill . That fall he and my uncles set it up on one of their farms and we made sorgrum Mollasses. I worked in the mill. It was suspose to have a mule walk around in circles, kind of like a hot walker. Both of my uncles had long ago got rid of their mules and had tracrors.. So we were driving the tractor around  to turn the cane rollers to mash the sorgrum cane. It was set up on a lillle hill so the sapwould run down to the pan where it was cooked. I had to feed the cane into the roller and dodge the tractor. Also get rid od the smashed cane and not let it build up..Later when I was grown I always wonder why we didn't figure out how to operate the cane roller off the power take off on the tractor.Back then the molasses was put into little tin buckets. If it set around too long it would turn into rock candy. I tremember toward the end of the war when there was no candy we would eat that rock candy.I think you could heat it up and it would turn back into molasses. Benton County was next to the county we lived in. I think we only operated that mill that one fall. To much trouble.
